The Great Start Grant is a Western Australia/Western Australian Government initiative to help first home owners to get their new first home sooner. You’ll get $15,000 towards buying or building your new house, unit or townhouse (valued at less than $750,000). You can even buy off the plan or choose to build yourself. It’s a great opportunity to buy or build a new home in our great state.

FACTS
In September 2012, the Western Australian Government introduced a grant of $15,000 for first home buyers.
The Great Start Grant is available for:
- people buying or building a brand-new house, apartment or townhouse
- off-the-plan homes
- owner-builder constructions
To be eligible:
- the property must be a new home
- it must be under $750,000
- you must be buying or building your first home. You – or your spouse – cannot have previously owned property in Australia
- you must be at least 18 years of age, and an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or applying with someone who is a citizen or permanent resident
You must also:
- live in the home
- move in within 1 year
- live there for at least 6 months continuously
